Royal Wedding Bet

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

The old syndicate is not happening still. We are testing out a new system on betfair. We are trying to exploit inefficient markets. The problem with that is that we put our system out on here the market will disappear. The other problem is that we are losing still 🙂

Anyhow, I found another printing money type bet on PaddyPower. I got the email from them saying that they were offering odds on celebrities turning up to the wedding.

Elton John was a close friend of his mothers and gave a poignant performance in the same church for Diana’s funeral so he will more than likely be present. Former US pop queen Britney, on the other hand, is a 100/1 outsider to be there.

1/2 Angela Merkel
5/6 Elton John
Evs Silvio Berlusconi
2/1 Paul McCartney
6/1 Simon Cowell
8/1 David and Victoria Beckham
12/1 Phil Collins
12/1 Tom Jones
12/1 Andrew Flintoff
16/1 Jools Holland
16/1 Helen Mirren
20/1 Bryan Adams
20/1 Eric Clapton
20/1 Cheryl Cole
33/1 Wayne Rooney
40/1 Geri Halliwell
40/1 Cindy Crawford
40/1 Catherine Zeta Jones
40/1 Charlotte Church
100/1 Britney Spears
250/1 Lady Gaga

Elton John seemed a cert to me. I went to the site and there was nothing up there. However I did see this market.

Less than 26 million 11/8
26,000,000 to 28,000,000 4/1
28,000,001 to 30,000,000 7/2
30,000,001 to 32,000,000 7/2
32,000,001 to 34,000,000 4/1
34,000,001 to 36,000,000 13/2
More than 36 million 5/1

Checking out the statistics on Wikipedia, the Charles and Diana wedding only got 28.4 million. With more channels now and possibly on the internet too, its got to be less than 26 million.

I had a cheeky £50 on it anyway. Bet here if you fancy it.
