Sunderland v Everton – Early Value

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

Following on my previous post, back Everton until the odds go down.  Odds for next weekends match are on betfair.  You can get 2.2 on Everton win.  That’s mad.  Sunderland are a team of Championship players.  I love the quote from Roy Keanne last week against Pompy.

“Without a shadow of a doubt, I would have liked us to have troubled their keeper more. We could have played until midnight and not scored. ”

They failed to score against whipping boys Derby.  I can’t see why Everton aren’t odd on for this. Look at their recent run of form http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/teams/Everton.html

So since that defeat to Liverpool, they’ve gone 18 matches 12-4-2 and the 2 were against Man U and Arsenal.  Draws against Chelsea, Blackburn, Spuds and Pompy.  I’d price this up at about 1.8 for an Everton win.  I’ve had  £50  personally.  No bet for the syndicate though.  We haven’t got much money left and Champions League midweek will need betting on.

Thank you Everton

Everton win 3-1.  So 1 win in 3.  Everton win was 1.925 so +£92.  Bank at -£208.

Guess the moral of the weekend, is don’t listen to other people’s picks blindly.  Hull was straight from the racing post.  Don’t like that division because any team can beat any team on their day.  I suppose there was value there but really shouldn’t be betting on something I know little about.  Barcelona was from Tip-Ex and Bettingzone.  Spurs was Pod’s tip which I wouldn’t have gone for.  Only tip that I picked personally was Everton.

Hindsight is great but the home win for Everton was a great bet considering they are in the top 4.  Imagine getting 1.92 (evens at kick off) for Arsenal, Man U and Co at home to another non-top 4 side.  Bookies might start pricing the odds differently now but I think Everton may be a team back until the end of the season.
