Sunday Bet

Sunday, January 13th, 2008

Man U win comfortably 6-0.   Bank now at -£134.

Bet today is Blackburn to beat Bolton.  No Anelka for Bolton so I can’t see where there goals are going to come from.  Santa is back for Blackburn.  Asian Handicap is 0, price is 1.95.  £100 staked.

Other bet is from the Spanish League.  This is one from my favourite internet tipster at tip-ex.  http://tip-ex.com/tmpl/previews/soccer120108.html

Atletíco Madrid   -   Valencia       2.05  -  4.00
Backing the home win (2.05). Valencia won a cup game 2-1 in midweek away to R Betis. New coach Koeman needed a win, no doubt about that but you should know that Betis fielded mostly fringe players. Koeman has called twenty footballers for this match, but not included are Canizares, Albelda, Angulo, Morientes, Alexis and Miguel. New signing, the Argentinian Banega, will not be involved and unfortunately it also looks like D Villa and Caneira will miss out.

Atletico welcome back the previously suspended Pernia but once again they will be without Seitaridis, Motta and L Franco. Ze Castro is their latest casualty, but Jurado is expected to be fit to play. At the end of the day I only really miss their keeper Franco in their present line up. Close to full strength A Madrid side should not have any major problems with Valenica, that is the way I see it (2.05).

Another £100 staked on that, odds 2.05.

Man U/ Newcastle

Saturday, January 12th, 2008

Reading lose 3-1.  Bet lost.  Wigan win but that only clawed back £75.  Bank loss today £25, new bank, -£234.

Late bet, Mam U to beat Newcastle on the Asian Handicap.  Even money on the -1.75 line.  Man U  should win easily.  Newcastle are hopeless.  With Arsenal drawing, Man U can go top.  I am just a little scared of the 1-0 result.

£100 staked.

Weekend bets 12th January

Sunday, January 6th, 2008

Odds are already out at some bookmakers already.  A couple of bets that have caught my eye.  First bet is Reading +1 on the Asian Handicap against Villa.  Price 1.86.  To be honest I think the handicap should be +0.5.  Reading aren’t that bad a team.  Villa may win but never should be a mere 1.55 on the 1X2 against a mid table team like Reading.  The handicap is for the extra insurance.

Second up is Wigan to beat Derby.  Can’t believe this price either  1.75 draw no bet.  Has no bookie realised that Wigan are a lot better under Bruce.  They beat Newcastle, lost a lead Villa, took a point from Anfield and then beat Sunderland 3-0.  Derby are just awful at the moment.  There are some signs of improvement hence the insurance of the draw no bet.

£100 staked on each.  Guess we will be overdrawn at the bank if both of these lose but I can’t see it.

I did fancy Pompey “we play better away from home” to beat Sunderland.  2.55 is a good price.  1) we are out of money for this month. 2) Pod didn’t like the bet 3) Pompey have players going to the African Cup of Nations.

Spurs +1 against Chelsea is probably another good bet.  1.73.  Chelsea’s run at Stamford bridge can’t last forever and now is the perfect time for a decent side to finally defeat them. Again, no money.  Must keep disciplined.

Remember the Ladbrokes rule

Sunday, January 6th, 2008

Watford win 2-0.  I was that sure of that bet I had a cheeky £100 on the side.  Good old Colin knows that there’s no point competing in a cup you can’t win and would rather concentrate on the league.

Newcastle let us down with a poor 0-0 draw.  To be honest, Stoke should have won that one.  Newcastle are very, very lucky.

I should have seen the warning signs.  When ever Ladbrokes seem to go top price for a favourite it always seems to not win.  There was a time when I would fancy a bet and then not have it because the best price was at Ladbrokes.  The 2.38 for Newcastle was at Ladbrokes.  Not only that, Ladbrokes went best price on Birmingham (lost) and Sunderland (lost).  I must conclude that Ladbrokes have very good odds setters.

Bank down to -£209.

Weekend Bets

Saturday, January 5th, 2008

Lets hope this weekend stops our losing run.  Two bets.  First off, Watford to beat Palace.  Warnock is playing a few youth players.  He’s not bothered about cup competitions that he can’t win.  The league is his priority.  Watford have a bad run of form at home but should be able to beat Palace.  1.91.

Second up is Newcastle to beat Stoke.  Tricky fixture on paper.  Its do or die Big Sam.  Newcastle have been improving and should beat Stoke.  2.38 is a big price.

£100 on each.  If both of these lose then is game over for this month.
