Why?

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

Well, thats bankruptcy this month.  Guess you win some, you lose some.  Damn 1-1 draw again.  If I could be bothered looking back through the blog, I’d see Sheffield United have cost us hundreds of pounds.  Its all Pod’s fault for being a blade.

So our full year record is actually negative.  http://www.stelawton.com/betting-record/

Guess we’ve had some stinking luck but also many bets which we’ve had for the sake of it.  Must stay diciplined.  AND STOP BETTING ON SHEFFIELD UNITED.

Is this a bet of Desperation or Bet of the day?

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

Some tough midweek fixtures in the Premiership.  Going to skip them all.

I’ve put this bet on already.  Its Sheffield United to beat Watford.  For some crazy reason we are ignoring all past form and common sense.  Sheff Utd played well again Man City.  Some luck with the ballons but overall they did deserve the win.

Staking plan is out of the window too.  Rest of the bank is on this one.  £170.  It’ll leave us with £1 left to play with if it goes tits up.  Its either going to be +£43 or -£399.

Randomly Browsing

Monday, January 28th, 2008

As an investor rather than a betting man I spend a lot of time browsing the web for sites that give me good information about betting and the information needed to succeed.   The sites I visit the most are all on the right hand side.

I stumbled across this UK betting site which has a lot of potential.  It still looks like a work in progress but I’d bet it will be a hit one day soon.  There are some interesting articles in the directory.  Well worth a read.

It has a UK betting forum attached to it which provides some great information and tips.  There aren’t many members there currently but the admins are great and will answer any questions you may have about betting, casinos, poker etc.

Finally, it has an associated UK betting blog with it.  Its about all types of betting, not just your football, but horse racing, casino, bookmakers the job lot.

Back to the serious stuff now.  Bank is negative and the end of the month is nigh.  Probably leave it until tomorrow now and have some last minute bets.  I do fancy Bolton to beat Fulham at 1.91 but Pod doesn’t.

Weekend bet

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

Skipped the syndicate betting midweek.  Had a bet on Arsenal which lost so not happy at all.  Anyways, City draw 1-1, bank down to -£129.

Today’s bet was Villa to beat Blackburn.  Another 1-1 draw result does us .  Bank down to -£229.  Wish I’d have read this from betair first Draw on the cards as Villa host Blackburn?

Late Sunday bet

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

Everton win, bank up to -£29.  Neutral weekend.  Damn blades and Geordies.

Late bet anyway on Man City to beat West Ham.  4th time they’ve met and West Ham this season and haven’t scored a single goal.  Ashton is out.  City still have an excellent home record.

£100 staked, 2.08 after commission.

What a let down

Saturday, January 19th, 2008

The return of the prodical son is a let down.  0-0.  I am going to have to stop lilstening to the hype.  Bookies must be laughing all the way to the bank.  They should sack Keegan!!!

Spurs jammy past Sunderland 2-0.  Good result.

Sheffield United lose 2-0.  Terrible.

Bank down to -£137.  Need a good result from Everton now.

Late Sheffield Derby Bet

Saturday, January 19th, 2008

The writing is on the wall for this bet.  We’re going for Sheffield United to beat Sheffield Wednesday.  (yes they are blacklisted and yes, they have screwed us over many time before) Very strange odds on this game.  Some bookies have Wednesday as favourites and others United.  Thats not too unusual in a tight game.  The strange thing is how at the same bookie (bet365) on the 1X2 United are favourites but on the Asian its Wednesday.

Anyhow, £100 staked on Sheffield U +0 on the Asian Handicap 1.97.

Kevin Keegan – the Prodigal Son Comes home

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

I am listening to radio 5 and they are up there for a special on Keegan going back to Newcastle.  It sounds like they’ve killed the fatted calf.  I think Newcastle to beat Bolton must be the banker of the weekend.  Newcastle do have a good squad but they don’t play well together.  Keegan will sort it all out.  The initial buzz of the new manager surely tips this tie heavily in favour of Newcastle.  Bolton still have only one striker so I can’t see them scoring.

£100 staked at 1.83.

Bank down to -£34.  For some stupid reason we had overs on the FA Cup replay Man City (1 nil specialist)/ West Ham match.  Game ended up 1-0 and we are a £100 less well off than before.

Weekend Bets 19th/20th January

Monday, January 14th, 2008

Both bets win.  Late goal for Blackburn makes it 2-1 and Athletic win 1-0.  In profit for the first time this month.  Bank now at +£66.

Tricky weekend to come.  We don’t fancy any of the big 4 at the price on offer.  Away wins are always the hardest to get and the skinny prices have no appeal.  1.65 for a Liverpool home win against Villa is a joke too.  Pompey to beat Derby is tricky.  Might even have cheeky fiver on the away win.  Half Pompey’s first team is in Africa.

So bets are Everton to beat Wigan on the Asian Handicap.  Wigan are doing alright but the teams they’ve played have been pretty poor (I put Liverpool in that bracket).  It was 1-0 last game against a 10 man Derby.  Not very good at all.  Everton are doing well,  last 10 games, 6-2-2, losses against Man and Arsenal, draws away to Pompey and Chelsea.  Asian Handicap is -0.25 at 2.08.

Spurs to beat Sunderland next bet.  Low odds on home win so looking on the Asian Handicap again.  Its -1.25.  Price 1.97.  Sunderland have picked up some home form but away are still poor.  Spuds have go to climb the table at some point and this is the type of game they should win easily.  Fingers crossed for a 7-1 hammering.

£100 staked on each.
