Weekend bets and Carling Cup thoughts

Monday, December 17th, 2007

Real Madrid win 2-0 so bank up to £323.  (we got 2.14 for the Arsenal draw no bet and Real madrid win double).  Going to skip the Carling Cup as its too unpredicable.  Looking at the fixtures and prices, I’d go for all home wins.  Man City at 13/8, who have won 9/9 at home vs 2/1 for Spurs that have won 1 game away all season?  Stupid odds.  Blackburn are going through a slump so what better way to come out of it than to beat Arsenal B side.  I recall the A side only drew 1-1 here near the start of the season.  I’d take the 2.8 on the home win rather than the 2.5 on the away.  Chelsea/ Liverpool is a bit dodgy.  I’d say home win if you held a gun to my head but I’d want a bit more than 2.1.  So no bets until Saturday.

Stand out fixture for me is Reading/ Sunderland.  Boyles have Reading at Evens which I think is a good price.  They have a good home record and Sunderland look destined to go down.  £100 staked.

Grandslam Sunday success

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

Barcelona win 3-0.  Can’t believe I didn’t stick the house on that one.  Odds against was just bookmaker craziness.  Man U jammy past Liverpool.  They score with their first shot at goal (not just first shot on target, first shot full stop).  £315 profit.  Bank up to £209.

Second bet of the day is Arsenal draw no bet and Real Madrid double.  Price 2.12 or so (I put it on over the telephone and can’t remember the price).  £100 staked.  Arsenal won and Real are 1-0 up with about an hour to to go.  If they hang on its going to be a fantastic weekend.

1 down 2 to go

Saturday, December 15th, 2007

Well Leeds draw 1-1.  So 1 down 2 to go.  Bank at -£96.  I am pretty confident about Barcelona so its make or break tomorrow on Man U/ Liverpool.

Bankruptcy this weekend?

Saturday, December 15th, 2007

We had Chelsea to beat Valencia.  0-0.  Bank down to +£4.

So this weekend is make or break.  Looking back over the year we’ve made £100 or so.  Its not a loss but its not a great deal.  First bet, Leeds to beat Walsall.  2.2.  Second up is Barcelona to beat Valencia.  2.1.  £100 on each.  Then we have Man U +0 to beat Liverpool, £200 at 2.025.

If it all loses then we are done for the month and done for the year.

Bet of the weekend

Monday, December 10th, 2007

Our treble wins comfortably.  Good job we decided to skip Sunday as both Arsenal and Liverpool lost.  Bank now up to +£104.

This has got to be bet of the weekend.  Man U on the Asian Handicap to beat Liverpool.  2.025.  Its so good we have a double bet on it.  £200 staked.  Man U will be fresher as they don’t have to win in their Champions League game.  Benitez showed at Reading that he’s not interested in the league plus they have to win in Marseille midweek.  Handicap should be -0.25 to Man U.

Having a stinker of a time

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007

Arsenal let us down.  The writing was on the wall really, Hleb and Fabregas are the backbone Arsenal and they weren’t playing.  Could have got out when Arsenal were 1 up but didn’t sell.  Bank down -£8.

Anyway, bet for the weekend, Everton, Manu and Chelsea treble.

ManU to hammer Fulham

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

Odds aren’t the best but ManU have got to be nailed on.  Current odds of 1.16 is still too high I think.  We’ve gone with the Asian Handicap though.  Its -2 at 1.98.  I think thats about right.  They have to win by 3 clear goals for any payout.  Win by 2 goals and its a push.  I just heard the team news and Man are putting a strong side out.  With them losing last week, some has to pay and its going to be poor old Fulham.  £100 staked.

Almost Perfect

Sunday, December 2nd, 2007

Blackburn come from behind to beat Newcastle.  Sheffield United win 1-0.  Liverpool win 4-0 but Spurs lose 3-2 at home to Birmingham.  To be fair they dominated but after Robbie Keane was sent off it was always going to be a struggle.  Anway, bank now at +£92.

We still think Man U are bankers so we are going to double them up Arsenal on Wednesday (to beat Newcastle).  Pays evens at bet365.  £100 staked.
