We have a winner

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

United beat Watford 1-0. It was apparently a nerve racking last 10 minutes. Glad I wasn’t there to watch it. That made us £233.84. Bank now at £216.34.

Looks like its going to be a profitable month. Only game today is Arsenal/ Fulham but at 1.4 its not worth it. Reading/ Newcastle is a dodgy one too.

Here’s the Tongue goal that won our bet as well as almost assuring Sheffield United’s premiership status.

Up the blades

Saturday, April 28th, 2007

Sheffield Wednesday did the business winning 2-1.  Bank was at +£82.50.  Ding didn’t manage it though.  He got battered 10-2.  Thats the last time I bet the snooker.  Bank now at -£17.50

The pick of the day is going to be Sheffield United to beat Watford.   Watford have been relegated and are not in good shape injury wise.  Sheffield Utd must win this game really, they’ve got a decent record at home.  Odds are 8/13.  Having not learnt anything from last month, this is an all in bet.  £380 on it.  I suppose we’ll have £2.50 left out of the pot but this is another jackpot or bust bet.

The Blades must win as I personally have them in a double with Chelsea.  If they don’t…  well, I’m up shit creek.

Weekend Bets

Saturday, April 21st, 2007

Printing money wasn’t as simple we thought. 1 up after 5 minutes, dominating but still 1-0 at half time. How many times do teams nick a goal they don’t deserve and mega favourites lose? We laid off some of the bet off at half time. Profit from the game £41.50. Bank now at +£5.50.

Todays bet is Sheffield Wednesday to beat Coventry, price was 1.78 at VCbet -0.5 on the Asian Handicap. Two clubs heading in different directions. Wednesday on the up, Coventry on a downer, with a lot of first team players out. Pod’s a blade so doesn’t like backing the ‘pigs’ but this is business and if Wednesday deliver the goods we may as well profit from them. Two warning signs on this bet. First, the price on Wednesday has drifted. 1.85 on Betfair now. Second, got a text message from Pod’s dad recommending the bet. His tips rarely win!!

Second bet of the weekend is O Sullivan v Ding, Ding Junhui to win 2.8. Don’t know too much about snooker but Pod knows his stuff.

£100 staked on each.

Printing money

Tuesday, April 17th, 2007

Chelsea leave it late again to win. Pity bets are settled in 90 minutes only. So the weekend double lost. Bank at -£36

Fixture of the day has to be Man U vs Sheff U. Home win for sure. All in at 1.18 on betfair (hence the printing money title). Should be money in the bank. 1-0 after 5 minutes.

Weekend FA Cup Bet

Friday, April 13th, 2007

We had £100 on Spurs on Thursday vs Seville, 1.94 -0.25.  Spurs were down 2-0 after 8 minutes.   Lucky for us they drew 2-2.  Still £50 lost but not a complete disaster.  Bank at +£64.

The weekend  looks tricky in Premiership (again).  The FA Cup looks easy money.  Man U to beat Watford has got to be printing money.  At 1.29 its an absolute steal.  I saw United demolish Roma on Wednesday.   I just cannot see Watford getting close.  Chelsea to beat Blackburn is 1.57.  Chelsea beat Valencia midweek which was arguably a bigger achievement than Man U beating Roma.  Blackburn are no pushovers but whatever happens, Chelsea can be counted on to score 1 more than Blackburn.  The double pays 2.02 at Bluesquare.  £100 staked

Good Friday bets

Saturday, April 7th, 2007

A tricky weekend for the betting. We decided to have 2 unders bets on the 2 good Friday games, £50 on each. Man City drew with Charlton 0-0 but Everton beat Fulham 4-1 so 1 win 1 loss. Odds aren’t too goods on unders. Winning bet only returned £33 from £50 staked. Loss for the day was £17.

Tottenham beat Reading last week so bank was +£130 but now £113.  Nothing immediately springs up for the bank holiday bets so it’ll probably be midweek for the next round of betting.

Sunday Bet

Sunday, April 1st, 2007

Only 1 match in the Premiership today.  Tottenham vs Reading.  We’ve gone for Spurs.   I think they’ll be out for revenge too for the 3-1 defeat.  Reading haven’t been scoring recently and are going through a little bit of a slump.  I can’t see them getting anything from this in form Tottenham side.  £100 staked at 1.8 at skybet.
