January Update

January 24th, 2010

Its been a while. We have still been betting, well, losing, just not been updating the site. Last month we ended up £36 down. That ends or winning streak.

This month has been a disaster. First bet won but that was only £50. From then we had 4 losing bets in a row, with the last bet being for £150. That bankrupts us for this month. Very disappointing. Overall loss in 3 years is £906.

Pod’s been doing some solo betting. He’s been winning but Spurs yesterday screwed him over a little. We’ll be back next month. I still think that there is money to be made in football betting. Just need to pick better games.

Good day at the office

December 19th, 2009

Today, Pod identifed 3 bets. Portsmouth +1 on the Asian Handicap, Villa – 1 and Man City overs.

I didn’t get up early enough to put the Portsmouth bet on. Gutted as that would have come in at evens. We had the other 2. Villa was evens and City overs was 1.75.

Villa win 1-0 and so bet is a push. Man City ended up 4-3. It was 2-1 after about 17 minutes so bet won easily.

Bank now at -£95. Very hopeful of making a profit this month.

On my personal bets, I’ve had a stonker of a weekend. Had Villa to win to nil at 6/4, £100 and Fulham at 6/1 also £100. Both won. £750 up on the day. Clawed back all my losses from last weekend and more.

Damn Mark Hughes and Man City

December 5th, 2009

Bad start to the month. Only one bet today. It was Cheslea to beat City. Started well enough with an early own goal against City. Somehow City managed to score 2 and win 2-1. £100 lost. Bank at -£100.

I think Man City are going to get put on the blacklisted teams. Everytime we seem to bet on a Man City game it appears to lose. Usually we are betting on them to win but this time they screwed us over. Chelsea are a bit rubbish too. The like of Hull, Burnley and Fulham all got draws at City and the so called champions elect get beat.

I don’t think we’ll be having anything tomorrow. I fancy Spurs strongly but Pod fancies Everton.

Numbers on a screen

November 29th, 2009

Its been a bad weekend for the syndicate. Saturday’s bet was Fulham to beat Bolton. We thought that was a 5 star bet and got 1.98 on it. Ended up 1-1 so £100 down.

Then today, we couldn’t decide on any bets so we had a tennis bet. Pod’s mate tipped Del Potro. We stuck the £160 profit we had it on. He lost, so bank wiped out for the month. Overall we finished this month even. No change on the overall balance which is still negative in the almost 3 years we’ve been doing this.

At the end of the day, we only bet what we can afford to lose. Its just numbers on a screen to us. Fingers crossed for a better December.

Another result and epic fail

November 23rd, 2009

Sunday was a good day for the syndicate. Only be we could decide on was Spurs/Wigan overs. Had a choice between over 2.5 at 1.70 or over 2.75 at 1.93. We went for the latter. Spurs win 9-1 so bet comes in. Just like printing money. Bank up to £260. At this rate, we’ll be in overall profit by the end of the year.

The epic fail is on my part. Pod fancied Spurs to win but I had a look at the odds and lumped on Wigan. This will go down in history as the worst bet I ever had.

Result

November 21st, 2009

It was looking a bit bad after Chelsea were 3-0 up after 22 minutes. We only had up to 4-0. Chelsea looked like they were going to run away with the game. Lucky for us they stopped at 4-0. Even more lucky was that I got the dutching wrong and the 4-0 result was actually paid out at 2.17.

That means we are £167 up this month.

Online Casinos

November 21st, 2009

We sometimes play casinos online. It can be a fun past time. Here’s our guide to casinos

First off, casinos are places to play for fun. Theoretically you can win at blackjack at a land casino but all other games, you will eventually lose. The only way you can win at blackjack is to count cards. As casinos frown upon this, you are likely to get barred. Roulette can be beat with special devices but these are banned in casinos too.

Online its slightly different. You can not win at all in the long term. There is no scope for card counting as decks are shuffled after every hand and you cannot user any lazer devices as the casinos use a random number generator rather than a ball. You can be up in the short term but eventually the house edge will get you. This is how casinos sucker you in online. As the house edge is tiny its possible to be up in the short term due to just random fluctuations.

We generally play blackjack as its a game where you actually have some control over the outcome. Roulette is OK but its all luck. No skill at all. They payout is 97.3% no matter how you play. With blackjack, you have some control over the outcome. With certain favorable rules, you can get 99% payout in blackjack with perfect play. In the medium term that makes a difference to how much you are going to lose. In the long term, you’ll lose it all so it doesn’t really matter which game you play.

Casinos offer many other games too. A lot try to push slot machines. These payout around 95% which is a lot better than the machines in the pubs but compared to other casino games thats a poor payout. Baccarat and craps have decent payouts so if roulette and blackjack aren’t your cup of tea, you could try those games. Avoid online slots.

If you are going to play online casinos, make sure you set a deposit limit. Its so tempting to keep depositing money until its all gone. All responsible casino operators will have an option to limit daily/ weekly deposits. If you do find yourself losing lots of money, you can always self bar too.

So in summary, only play online casinos for fun. Expect to lose eventually and make sure you do gamble what you cannot afford to lose. With football betting, you can only bet on so many games a week but with casino, you can lose all your money in a night.
