Nice special bet from Paddy Power

July 7th, 2011

With the John Terry, Ryan Giggs and Rio Ferdinand scandals still fresh in the memory, Paddy Power have opened a book on who is going to be the next love cheat. Here are the current odds
Number of love cheats during 2011/2012 PL season
40/1 None
9/4 1 to 2
11/10 3 to 4
2/1 5 or more

Rules
Singles Only,
Applies to the number of Premier League footballers that have extra-marital affairs exposed during the 2011/2012 Premier League season,
Must be printed on the front page of a red-top national tabloid by end May 2012,PP decision final.

I have been tempted in to betting on none. There are only a handful of premiership footballers that would ever make it on to the front page of a national red top and with all the publicity, the footballers are going to be extra careful not to get caught. I think that 40/1 for no premiership footballers is too high.

I was going to have a cheeky tenner on it but the most they’ll let you have on zero footballers is £8.94.

click here to join me. Pod reckons its crazy and someone is bound to be outed within 3 months. I think its got to be worth it for a tenner though.

Upate and Rebbeca Black Youtube betting specials

March 25th, 2011

Long time no blog. We have a syndicate again but we are trading on betfair. We are betting on markets that have little liquidity and so putting our bets on the internet probably isn’t the best idea.

We’ll be using this blog in future to put out some fun bets we have had. First off is the Rebecca Black youtube specials.

We’ve gone for the video to get over 100 million views by the end of the year at Paddypower.

Rebecca Black Specials Hide
Singles Only.
Must happen by end of 2012.
PP decision final.
Rebecca Black’s Friday to reach 100 million views on youtube 4/9
Rebecca Black to record a duet with Justin Bieber 6/1
Rebecca Black’s debut album to go platinum 9/1
Rebecca Black’s Friday to reach No.1 in the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart 16/1
Rebecca Black to become a judge on X Factor US 33/1
Rebecca Black to win a Grammy 80/1

Please help us out by watching the video here.

Still no betting syndicate but still betting on odds and sods. This is almost a gift from William Hill.

I was listening to late night radio and one of the top stories was that Vince Cable has made U-turn and is going to vote in favouring of tuition fee rises. Check BBC news http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-11915836

4 December 2010 Last updated at 08:07

Business Secretary Vince Cable will back a rise in tuition fees in next week’s crucial vote, it has emerged.

He told a newspaper: “Obviously I have a duty as a minister to vote for my own policy – and that is what will happen.”

Mr Cable has previously said all Liberal Democrat MPs would act collectively to abstain in the vote.

William Hill sent me this.

VINCE CABLE is an odds-on chance with William Hill to vote in favour of higher university tuition fees next Thursday.
Hills offer 2/5 that he will vote yes; 7/4 that he will abstain; and 16/1 that he will vote against. ‘Mr Cable is clearly uncomfortable about the situation, but we believe he will opt to vote in favour of what is his own policy’ said Hill’s Graham Sharpe

WILLIAM HILL….HOW WILL CABLE VOTE?
Yes 2/5
Abstain 7/4
No 16/1

At the time of writing this market is still open. I put £100 for hopefully a free £40 profit. Sign up here if you haven’t got an account. * disclaimer. I get a commission if you sign up via this link. Use code F25 to get a free £25 bet. Don’t blame me if it loses though. Just write to Vince Cable telling him he has lost credibility. You can’t be a government minister and not vote for your own laws!

Royal Wedding Bet

November 18th, 2010

The old syndicate is not happening still. We are testing out a new system on betfair. We are trying to exploit inefficient markets. The problem with that is that we put our system out on here the market will disappear. The other problem is that we are losing still :-)

Anyhow, I found another printing money type bet on PaddyPower. I got the email from them saying that they were offering odds on celebrities turning up to the wedding.

Elton John was a close friend of his mothers and gave a poignant performance in the same church for Diana’s funeral so he will more than likely be present. Former US pop queen Britney, on the other hand, is a 100/1 outsider to be there.

1/2 Angela Merkel
5/6 Elton John
Evs Silvio Berlusconi
2/1 Paul McCartney
6/1 Simon Cowell
8/1 David and Victoria Beckham
12/1 Phil Collins
12/1 Tom Jones
12/1 Andrew Flintoff
16/1 Jools Holland
16/1 Helen Mirren
20/1 Bryan Adams
20/1 Eric Clapton
20/1 Cheryl Cole
33/1 Wayne Rooney
40/1 Geri Halliwell
40/1 Cindy Crawford
40/1 Catherine Zeta Jones
40/1 Charlotte Church
100/1 Britney Spears
250/1 Lady Gaga

Elton John seemed a cert to me. I went to the site and there was nothing up there. However I did see this market.

BBC Wedding Viewers
Applies to the number of UK viewers of the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Figure to be confirmed by the BBC.
Bets void if any other UK terrestrial network cover event.
Bets void should they not marry by the end of 2012.
PP decision final.
Less than 26 million 11/8
26,000,000 to 28,000,000 4/1
28,000,001 to 30,000,000 7/2
30,000,001 to 32,000,000 7/2
32,000,001 to 34,000,000 4/1
34,000,001 to 36,000,000 13/2
More than 36 million 5/1

Checking out the statistics on Wikipedia, the Charles and Diana wedding only got 28.4 million. With more channels now and possibly on the internet too, its got to be less than 26 million.

I had a cheeky £50 on it anyway. Bet here if you fancy it.

Printing money at Paddypower

July 12th, 2010

This blog has been neglected a lot of late. Basically, the months of January, February and March this year was just too much to stomach in terms of losses. We both still bet but independently again. Its no fun blogging when you are losing.

This world cup, Pod is well up. His strategy has been a lot better than mine. I lost quite a bit but it was all down to the Germany/ Spain result. I didn’t see that one coming at all. Got giddy and lumped on the Germans.

So for the final, I was looking round for a good bet and stumbled across Paddy Powers specials markets. They were doing a bet on which channel would get the most viewers.

With billions of people expected to tune in around the world for the World Cup final both the BBC and ITV will be battling it out to win their own match in the World Cup Final TV ratings.

And Paddy Power make the men at the Beeb the hot favourites to record more viewers than their ITV rivals with Gary Lineker’s team just 1/5 and Adrian Chiles’ crew the 3/1 outsiders.

To anyone living in Britain this is a no brainer of a bet. Check this blog post about a gift from Paddy Power. I lumped on this before the price dropped. Its actually the biggest bet I have ever had. I hit the bet max button and it came up with £414.75. £82.92 profit guaranteed.

So the Guardian publish the viewing numbers today,

“Average of 15.1 million viewers choose to watch BBC’s advertising-free coverage, compared with 3.3 million for ITV”

and I get paid out. I really can’t see how that bet could have gone wrong. Someone at Paddy Power must be kicking themselves now. I’ll keep an eye out on those specials in future in the hope of getting another gem like that.

February Update

February 15th, 2010

January was a bad month, February, just more of the same. Here’s the months summary from a text message Pod sent me.

Everton/ Wigan overs. -£100
Liverpool/ Chelsea double +£87
Sunderland win -£100
Roma/ Real Madrid and a tennis bet treble -£100
Madrid Win +£90
Newcastle win -£100
Birmingham/ Man City/ Chelsea Treble -£100
Villa/ Fulham Double -£77
Grim reading. Bad month. Just wire me the money when you’ve got it.

So its another bankrupt month. Running total is -£1306. Sound a lot but if you look at it this way, its 3 years entertainment.

Lessons to be learnt from this month, don’t back Man City. They are the new Liverpool when it comes to screwing bets over.

Next month will be better.

January Update

January 24th, 2010

Its been a while. We have still been betting, well, losing, just not been updating the site. Last month we ended up £36 down. That ends or winning streak.

This month has been a disaster. First bet won but that was only £50. From then we had 4 losing bets in a row, with the last bet being for £150. That bankrupts us for this month. Very disappointing. Overall loss in 3 years is £906.

Pod’s been doing some solo betting. He’s been winning but Spurs yesterday screwed him over a little. We’ll be back next month. I still think that there is money to be made in football betting. Just need to pick better games.

Betting update

December 28th, 2009

Been very slack with the updates. Looks like this month is going to end up with a loss.

So last week, we had,

West Ham vs Chelsea over 2.5 goals. Ended up 1-1.

Bank down to -£195.

Boxing day

Newcastle to beat Wednesday 1.72
Burnley to beat Bolton 2.37
Man City -1 on the Asian 1.79
Wigan Bolton unders. 1.7

First 2 lost. Ended up £51 down on the day. Bank at -£246.

Todays bets were, Everton -1, 2.1 and Man City win at evens. Everton win 2-0. Man City are 1-0 up. Fingers crossed, we’ll be only down £36 this month.

Good day at the office

December 19th, 2009

Today, Pod identifed 3 bets. Portsmouth +1 on the Asian Handicap, Villa – 1 and Man City overs.

I didn’t get up early enough to put the Portsmouth bet on. Gutted as that would have come in at evens. We had the other 2. Villa was evens and City overs was 1.75.

Villa win 1-0 and so bet is a push. Man City ended up 4-3. It was 2-1 after about 17 minutes so bet won easily.

Bank now at -£95. Very hopeful of making a profit this month.

On my personal bets, I’ve had a stonker of a weekend. Had Villa to win to nil at 6/4, £100 and Fulham at 6/1 also £100. Both won. £750 up on the day. Clawed back all my losses from last weekend and more.
